Job Function: Finance and Accounting Job Family: General Accounting Job Title: Senior Accounts Assistant Department: Finance Reports To: Controller / TBA Exempt/Non-Exempt (if applicable): Exempt Location: Gort- Ireland Position Summary: The Senior Accounts Assistant will be required to assist with the management of accounting activities handled by the finance support team. The role requires strong attention to detail, financial analysis, and effective collaboration with the Accounting, Finance teams, and other business departments. Additionally, the Senior Accounts Assistant will assist with cross-border indirect tax and trade compliance reporting along with other ad-hoc projects as the need arises. Key Responsibilities Preparation of journal entries and monitoring of month-end close process across several entities Assist with required submissions including VAT, VIES, RTD and Intrastat returns Performing control checks during the close and remedy any errors Report progress, highlight risks and escalate to management as required Assist with preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, monitor aged items and assist with resolution of issues Assist with ad-hoc projects within the group and identify process improvement opportunities Liaise with external auditors during the audit cycle ensuring all information is provided in a timely and accurate manner Assist with providing proactive query management and resolution for items raised by colleagues, advisors and auditors Adherence to all company workflows, policies and procedures Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A Qualifications & Experience Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Membership of a recognised accounting body ACA , ACCA, CPA or equivalent. Skills & Competencies Ideally 3–5 years of relevant multinational experience, part qualified or recently qualified candidates will also be considered The ability to work independently Ability to use own initiative to engage with internal teams or external contacts to resolve questions, address issues, and support workflow continuity Excellent time-management skills are necessary for achieving deadlines Strong communications skills Data inputting and bookkeeping experience including VAT Ability to manage a bookkeeping service for a portfolio of clients Excellent IT skills Knowledge of the Oracle EBS would be an advantage
